Nespresso had previously placed warnings on their machines that told customers that only its own pods should be used with their coffee machines. This ruling has opened up the coffee pod market to other manufacturers, with consumers able to confidently purchase non-Nespresso pods in the knowledge that their machines are still protected.
As one of Europe's leading Nespresso compatible pod manufacturers, Coda Plastics have designed and developed an innovative coffee pod solution. If you would like to speak to us about manufacturing coffee pods do not hesitate to contact us. You can call us on +44(0) 1692 501020 or email

"It appears that Nespresso may have abused its dominant position by tying the purchase of its capsules to that of its coffee machines, with no fair justification, de facto ousting rival capsule makers" said French antitrust watchdog Autorite de la Concurrence in a statement.
In April of this year it was announced that Nespresso, owned by Nestle, had reached an agreement with France's antitrust authorities to end what had been seen as a monopoly on the coffee pods it sells for its machines. The agreement extended the guarantee on the company's coffee machines to pods produced by other coffee pod manufacturers.
